Reporting a bug

Please include these — with them a problem is usually fixable in one pass, without them it often is not reproducible at all:

  • What you were doing, and what you expected to happen.
  • Your phone model and its Android version.
  • Which lock mode was on, and which unlock method you had chosen.
  • Which call app you were in, if the problem was during a call.
  • For a touch that got through: where on the screen it was, and whether the lock was Whole screen or Call buttons only.

There is no account to look up and nothing of yours on our side, so describing the problem is all we need. Please do not send screenshots that show the person you were calling.

Frequently asked

Which call apps does it work with?

Any app, because the lock sits over whatever is on screen. Whole screen needs nothing app-specific. Call buttons only needs blocked zones drawn for the app, and the app saves a layout per call app so you draw them once.

Why does it need an accessibility service?

It is the only way Android lets an app notice the volume keys while another app is in front, hold back the Back and Home gestures, and notice that a call app has opened. The service is used for those three things, only while a lock is armed or active, and it never reads what is on the screen. The privacy policy spells it out.

What if I forget how to unlock?

Hold either volume key for three seconds — that is the default and the one we recommend. If you chose the corner hold or fingerprint instead, those work the same way they did in practice.

Can my child still hang up somehow?

Not by touching the screen in Whole screen mode, and not through a blocked zone in Call buttons only. The power button and emergency calls remain the phone’s own, and Android may still let some system gestures through on some phones. Run the practice lock to see what your phone does.

Does it record or watch the call?

No. The lock layer swallows touches and nothing else. The app never reads the screen, never records anything, and sends nothing off the phone.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The lock works offline. When there is a connection the app fetches its remote settings and sends usage counts and crash reports to Google Firebase, described in the privacy policy.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. iOS does not let an app lay a layer over another app’s call, so there is no iOS lock.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no subscription and no account.

Deleting your data

Screen Lock has no account and no server, so there is nothing of yours for us to delete. Your lock mode, unlock method, blocked zones and settings are kept on your phone; clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling it removes them.
